Twenty years ago, I was operating a small cellular phone company in rural Arizona
and had the privilege of meeting Eric Baxter from AT&T Wireless. Eric was the
Director of AT&T’s Roaming group in Redmond, Washington and was charged with
expanding cellular coverage in rural areas. Eric provided me an opportunity to build
out and serve several areas out West where AT&T lacked coverage. This helped
lead to the formation of one of my first companies (Commnet Wireless). Working
together, AT&T and Commnet significantly expanded cellular coverage and brought
service to Americans in the Four Corners and other rural regions of the U.S.
The foundation of all successful partnerships is mutual respect and trust. Eric
embodies the characteristics that make partnerships work and grow. Three years
ago, Eric took early retirement from AT&T. I then invited him to join my new
company (SectorSeven) and manage our business development initiatives. Eric has
created meaningful value for our shareholders by driving new strategic customer
and supplier partnerships and expanding our marketing channels.
Please join me in congratulating Eric as our newly appointed President and Chief
Operating Officer. I greatly appreciate our long-term working partnership and look
